Weird Wednesday: Yeti Crab

.

Yeti crab

Scientifically known as the Kiwa Hirsuta, the yeti crab was discovered in 2005 in the South Pacific Ocean by a research team from California. The crab was discovered in the depth of 7200ft! It was found living along the hydrothermal vents.  The "hairy" pincers contain filamentous bacteria, which the creature may use to detoxify poisonous minerals from the water emitted by the hydrothermal vents where it lives.
